Philip Morris International’s vision is to offer better alternatives to cigarettes that meet the expectations of adult smokers who would otherwise continue to smoke. To meet the diverse needs of adult smokers, Philip Morris has introduced a portfolio of products, such as heated tobacco products, e-vapor products (also known as e-cigarettes), and oral smokeless products such as nicotine pouches and snus.
In Spain, our IQOS heated tobacco product was launched in 2016 and is now available across the market. In March 2022, we launched IQOS ILUMA in Spain, the new generation of the IQOS family featuring the advanced SMARTCORE INDUCTION SYSTEM™ technology, which heats the tobacco through an induction system rather than a blade, which means no tobacco residue and no need to clean.
IQOS offers adult smokers that don’t quit a much better alternative to cigarettes because it heats the tobacco instead of burning it. Unlike e-cigarettes, it is used with tobacco, not liquids. With IQOS there is no combustion, so there is no ash, no fire, no smoke, and therefore no smell of smoke.
IQOS is not risk-free, and it provides nicotine, which is addictive. But because it heats the tobacco instead of burning it, it emits significantly lower levels of harmful chemicals than cigarettes.

In Spain, our company is a leading player in the Spanish market. Our brands are among the top ten best-selling brands with Marlboro, Chesterfield and L&M.
